Abstract :
Objectives: This study was designed to ascertain whether regular exercise may attenuate lipid peroxidation in adolescents with Downʹs syndrome. Materials and methods: Thirty-one male adolescents with Downʹs syndrome performed a 12-week training program, 3 days/week at a work intensity of 60–75% of peak heart rate (HRmax = 194.5–[0.56 age]). Plasmatic malondialdehyde (MDA) was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results: When compared to baseline, MDA content was decreased significantly. Conclusion: Regular exercise significantly decreased lipoperoxidation in Downʹs syndrome.
