Abstract :
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) was employed for the determination of cytochrome c using a wall-jet amperometric detector consisting a copper(I) oxide-modified sol-gel carbon composite electrode (CCE), which exhibits a sensitive electrocatalytic response for the oxidation of cytochrome c. The optimum conditions of separation and detection are 0.08M NaOH for the separation solution, 12kV for separation voltage and +0.60V versus saturated calomel electrode (SCE) for the detection potential. Calibration was linear over the concentration range 1-600µM with the limit of detection of 3.4µM, based on a signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of 3.
