Abstract :
This presentation will discuss epidemiological, psychosocial, and biological data that illustrate the developmental continuities of suicidal states when onset occurs in prepuberty, adolescence, and young adulthood. Specifically, suicidal behavior differs in prevalence and degree of morbidity among young age groups. This is associated with discernable continuities in risk factors in childhood, adolescence and your adulthood. The regulatory features of suicidal behavior have been described as relevant factors of social adjustment and social support systems. This presentation will integrate data researching psychosocial and neurobiological factors that characterize suicidal youth and develop a perspective on research and preventive strategies that can be applied to address relative risk of vulnerable youth populations.
