Abstract :
Five different species of microorganisms, namely, Rhodotorula rubra, Rhodotorula glutinis, Cladosporium sp., Verticillium sp., and bakerʹs yeast, turned out to be useful biocatalysts for enantioselective reduction of a variety of diethyl 1-oxoalkylphosphonates. To suppress substrate decomposition, bioreductions were carried out under anhydrous conditions, using lyophilized cells immobilized on Celite R 630. The influence of reaction conditions such as biotransformation time and chemical additives on the yield of the reaction is discussed.
