Abstract :
Electronic resources are becoming a common and useful collection building tool in many libraries, especially academic libraries. This paper presents an overview of how librarians and library staff are using these tools, what tools are being used, and what benefits and drawbacks they present. Web sites, OPACs, listservs, and direct libraryvendor links are a sampling of the variety of electronic resources which aid acquisition departments in their choices and ordering decisions. Specific examples and useful web sites are included.
