Information About Authors on the Internet: Sixteen Great Web Sites

The Internet has the ability to provide the librarian with timely information on a wide variety of specialized topics that are useful in both acquisitions and collection development. Specifically, the Internet has a multitude of sources providing information about authors; it can play a role when trying to develop a specific collection, learn about new authors or catch up on those already established. This study discusses sixteen of the best websites currently available that provide information about authors or have compiled sources of such information. These sites fall into two categories: eight (8) provide information about authors within their own pages and eight (8) sites contain collections of links to sites with author information.
