Rapid production of no-carrier-added 18F− from 2-fluoroaniline via the 19F(γ,n)18F reaction, using a hospital electron linear accelerator

No carrier-added [18F]fluoride was produced via the 19F(γ,n)18F reaction by γ-irradiation of 2-fluoroaniline and subsequent extraction of the produced ion with water. The fluoride was then purified by liquid chromatography on a Chromabond-NO2 column. This procedure is a convenient alternative for the low cost production of this important nuclide.
