Radionuclide standardization by Cherenkov counting

We present a new method for the standardization of pure β and β-γ nuclides based on Cherenkov counting. This method uses standards of 36Cl and 32P for obtaining a general curve that relates the detection probability to the kinetic energy of the electron. The test of the method shows an excellent agreement with experiment for 204TI, 89Sr, 90Sr + 90Y, 60Co and 137Cs. We also analyze the influence of the β-spectrum shapefactors on the results.
