Abstract :
Alanine-silicone pellets are used jointly with electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to evaluate their dosimetric properties for electrons. The system has previously been shown to be useful for γ-ray dosimetry (Flores and Galindo, Radiat. Res. 125, 335, 1991). A 1-MV tandem Van de Graaff accelerator was used to perform electron irradiations in the absorbed dose range 10-105 Gy and a calibration curve was established. Intercomparisons with radiochromic films were accomplished whenever it was applicable. For immediate use, this dosimetric system was used to determine a 3-D dose profile for an irradiation chamber of a pulsed electron accelerator currently used to test electron irradiation effects on waste waters.
