Factor analysis of semiconductor γ-ray spectra

A new method for calculation and evaluation of semiconductor γ-ray spectra, based on factorization of the response operator by a confirmatory least squares technique of factor analysis is described. A comparison with the most commonly used peak net area method shows that with the new method the detection efficiency can be increased several times.
