A method of searching for peaks and multiplets in γ-ray spectra

A new method of searching peaks in gamma spectra is proposed. The method makes use of the well known Sterlinskiʹs algorithm. The number proportional to peak area and the variance of this number (from the Sterlinskiʹs method) are used in the criterion “true” peaks. A comparison of performance in searching single are multiple peaks of the proposed method and others frequently used in practice shows a better quality of our method.
