International symposium on radiological problems with natural radioactivity in the Non-Nuclear Industry : 8–10 September 1997, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Review Article

The International Basic Safety Standards and the Euratom Council Directive of 1996 for protection of man and environment against ionizing radiation forces the Non-Nuclear Industry to investigate the consequences of the presence of natural radionuclides in the processed materials and in the waste streams. In order to inform the industry and to provide a forum for exchange with regulatory authorities a symposium was held from 8–10 September 1997 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. An overview of this symposium is given below.
