Abstract :
Tetravalent Zr4+ ion and divalent O2- ion conductors based on phosphate and oxide, respectively, were applied as components of a CO2 gas sensor with a water-insoluble oxycarbonate auxiliary electrode and a good sensing performance was demonstrated. Since the sensor cell is mainly composed of the components such as Zr4+, P5+ and O2- ions, a considerably high stability was realized from the beginning of its operation, with a rapid response which was reproducible and corresponded to the theoretical values.
