Abstract :
A novel lead vanadophosphate, PbVOP2O7, has been synthesized. This phase crystallizes in the Pnma space group with a= 8.899(1) ?, b=7.534(1) ?, and c=9.142(1) ?. The [VP2O8] framework consists of ReO3-type [VO3] chains running along interconnected through P2O7 groups forming large intersecting tunnels running along , , and , respectively, where the Pb2+ cations are located. This is the second lead vanadophosphate, beside Pb(VO)3(P2O7)2, that consists of [VO3] chains interconnected by P2O7 groups.
