The Hf–Au system

The Hf–Au system has been reinvestigated by means of differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis. The existence of the seven intermetallic phases, previously reported, Hf2Au, HfAu, Hf7Au10, HfAu2, HfAu3, HfAu4 and HfAu5 was confirmed. We specify here their type of formation. For the equiatomic compound, we have shown the presence of a martensitic transformation and of allotropic transitions.
