  • Abstract
    The classical description of magnetomechanical damping is thrown into doubt by noticing that the calculated dependence of damping on domain size suggests that the microeddy current damping might be amplitude dependent. A review of the older models suggests that they are insufficient. A look at the advances in the study of hysteresis as a result of magnetic cycling suggests that study of an extended version of the Pry and Bean model is more appropriate for the microeddy current damping, and may shed some light on the hysteretic damping.
