Abstract :
Based on high time-resolution measurements of plasma parameters and magnetic field carried out onboard the Interball-1 satellite, a comparative analysis of magnetic field fluctuations in the magnetosheath and solar wind (magnetic measurements aboard the WIND spacecraft are used) is made. The magnetic field fluctuations are also compared with ion flux fluctuations in the magnetosheath. It is shown that the large-scale correlation between magnetic field variations in the solar wind and magnetosheath is higher than the small-scale variation and that this correlation for the transverse components is more significant than that for the radial component and magnitude. The level of magnetic field fluctuations in the magnetosheath considerably (on average, by a factor of 2.5 in relative root mean square deviations) exceeds the level of simultaneous field fluctuations in the solar wind. A considerable part of field variations in the magnetosheath is not related to variations in the solar wind, i.e., exists independently.
