Thee cae were compared with another 25 imilar eye that underwent the ame procedure but in which gentamicin olution 0.3% wa ued intead of mitomycin C olution. Reult: Three eye (12%) in the mitomycin C group howed recurrence within 7 month of urgery compared with eight eye (32%) of the gentamicin control group within 3 to 5 month. In the mitomycin C-treated group, corneal change in the form of uperficial punctate keratiti (three eye) and limbal avacularity (two eye) ubided within 2 week potoperatively. Followup time for thee cae ranged from 18 to 21 month. Concluion: A diluted olution of mitomycin C, 0.02 mg/ml, with an accurate ize of terile ponge applied to bare ciera after primary pterygium exciion decreae the rate of recurrence to a greater extent than doe gentamicin olution and i not aociated with evere complication
