Acute retinal necroi late in the econd trimeter

Purpoe: To report treatment of a patient with acute retinal necroi during pregnancy. Method: A 24-year-old woman in her twentythird week of getation wa diagnoed with acute retinal necroi. A combination of acyclovir and interferon therapy wa tarted at 25 week. Par plana vitrectomy wa performed during the 26th week of getation. Reult: The necrotizing retina became gliotic within 3 week of urgery. The patientʹ viual acuity improved to LE, 20/40. A healthy baby wa delivered at 39 week of getation. Concluion: Combination therapy of acyclovir and interferon followed by urgery partially retored the patientʹ viion without affecting fetal development.
