  • Abstract
    Purpoe Meemann corneal epithelial dytrophy i a dominantly inherited diorder that wa originally reported in Germany and later in decendant of German immigrant to the United tate. We report Meemann corneal epithelial dytrophy in a family that cannot be traced to Germanic origin. Method A 17-year-old audi boy from the Al-Qahtani tribe of the Air region of the kingdom came to the King Khaled Eye pecialit Hopital with claic clinical finding of Meemann corneal epithelial dytrophy. We examined all member of the immediate family of the index cae and member of five branche of the extended family. Reult Meemann corneal epithelial dytrophy wa preent in the father and one iter of the index cae. Four additional affected individual were identified in three generation of one branch of the extended family. All but one of the even affected individual were aged 17 year or older. Our finding are conitent with previou report of an autoomal dominant pattern of inheritance, with probable incomplete penetrance or delayed onet of phenotypic expreion. Concluion We report Meemann corneal epithelial dytrophy in a family without German ancetry.
