Purpoe To determine difference in incidence of retinopathy of prematurity between neonate of multiple-getation and ingle-getation pregnancie and to analyze difference in everity of retinopathy of prematurity among ibling of multiple-getation pregnancie. Method We reviewed the record of 149 neonate of multiple-getation pregnancie and 691 ingle-getation neonate creened for retinopathy of prematurity at one hopital from January 1, 1992, through December 31, 1995. The peak tage of retinopathy of prematurity wa recorded for all infant. The multiple-getation infant were then eparated into concordant and dicordant retinopathy of prematurity group, with dicordance defined a a difference of at leat 2 tage of retinopathy of prematurity between ibling. Between ibling with dicordant retinopathy of prematurity, multiple factor were compared. Reult Retinopathy of prematurity wa preent in 69 (46%) of the multiple-getation neonate. Retinopathy of prematurity wa preent in 312 (45%) of ingle-birth neonate. The percentage of multiple-getation neonate with tage 1, 2, or 3 (prethrehold) or threhold retinopathy of prematurity wa imilar to that of ingle-getation neonate. tage 4 or 5 retinopathy of prematurity did not occur in either group. Concluion There wa no ignificant difference in tage of retinopathy of prematurity between infant of ingle-getation pregnancie v thoe of multiple-getation pregnancie. The majority (84%) of infant of multiple-getation pregnancie had concordant retinopathy of prematurity. In thoe infant with dicordant dieae, zygoity and potgetational factor other than lowet erum glucoe were not related to everity of retinopathy of prematurity.
