Bilateral zonular cataract aociated with the mitochondrial cytopathy of pearon yndrome

Purpoe To report a child with the mitochondrial cytopathy of Pearon yndrome and zonular cataract. Method Cae report. We decribe a 6-year-old boy with Pearon yndrome. Reult At age 3 year, the boy developed econdary trabimu caued by bilateral zonular cataract. ubequently, he underwent ucceful bilateral cataract extraction with intraocular len implantation. Potoperative viual acuity with bet correction wa RE, 20/25 and LE, 20/40. Concluion Children with Pearon yndrome hould be examined ophthalmologically to rule out zonular cataract and poible amblyopia. Mitochondrial cytopathie uch a Pearon yndrome hould be included in the differential diagnoi of congenital and early juvenile cataract.
