Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the clinical and fluorecein angiographic appearance of cytoid macular edema aociated with cytomegaloviru retiniti in patient with the acquired immunodeficiency yndrome (AID).
Method
We retropectively examined the clinical and photographic record of four patient with AID and cytomegaloviru retiniti who developed cytoid macular edema.
Reult
even eye of four patient with AID and cytomegaloviru retiniti experienced decreaed viion aociated with cytoid macular edema. Vitreou inflammation wa mild in each patient. In all eye, the retiniti involved zone 1, and in all but one eye, the cytomegaloviru retiniti wa inactive. In one eye, the cytoid macular edema wa worened by formation of a dene juxtafoveal epiretinal membrane.
Concluion
Although infrequently recognized, cytoid macular edema can caue viual lo in patient with AID and cytomegaloviru retiniti. Fluorecein angiography hould be conidered in any patient with cytomegaloviru retiniti and unexplained viual lo.
