Abstract :
Purpoe: To document the viual outcome after ucceful foveal tranlocation with intentional retinal detachment and cleral hortening for the treatment of myopic neovacular maculopathy. Method: Two everely myopic patient with ubfoveal neovacular membrane underwent urgical tranlocation of the fovea to an area of healthy retinal pigment epithelium by mean of cleral hortening and intentional retinal detachment. In the potoperative period, monocular and binocular viual function were tudied. Reult: In one patient, bet-corrected viual acuity improved from 20/150 to 20/20 potoperatively. In the econd patient, acuity initially improved from 20/70 to 20/30. In both patient, the fixation point hifted from the ite of the neovacular membrane. Oblique atigmatim developed and wa managed with hard contact lene. Diplopia and ubjective torion occurred traniently. Micropia occurred in one patient. Peripheral fuion aeed by Worth four-dot teting after reolution of diplopia dicloed uppreion in the nondominant eye in both cae. Concluion: Foveal tranlocation with intentional retinal detachment and cleral hortening wa ueful in improving viual acuity in two patient with myopic neovacular maculopathy. Diplopia and anieikonia occurred but reolved over time a uppreion developed. Thi technique i promiing for patient with myopic neovacular maculopathy.
