  • Abstract
    Purpoe: To evaluate the role of vitrectomy in patient with decreaed viual acuity olely attributable to ateroid hyaloi. Method: We retropectively reviewed the record of patient with ateroid hyaloi and identified thoe who underwent vitrectomy for ymptomatic ateroid hyaloi alone. Reult: After vitrectomy, nine of 10 eye (10 patient) had at leat 1 line of improvement in nontandardized bet-corrected viual acuity. In one eye, viion wa unchanged potoperatively. The average gain wa 3.44 line. Concluion: A mall percentage of patient with ateroid hyaloi have decreaed viual acuity caued olely or primarily by the ateroid hyaloi. Vitrectomy in thee patient may alleviate ymptom and improve viual acuity.
