Abstract
Purpoe: To decribe the manifetation of infectiou crytalline keratopathy caued by Candida guilliermondii in a corneal tranplant performed for peudophakic bullou keratopathy.
Method: Cae report.
Reult: Candida guilliermondii wa identified a the cauative organim of an indolent infectiou crytalline keratopathy. Inciional lamellar biopy provided diagnotic culture and hitopathologic reult. Hitopathology howed aggregate of yeat element between corneal tromal lamellae, without inflammation. The infection progreed depite a 6-week coure of topical amphotericin B and an additional 6-week coure of topical and oral fluconazole. Repeat penetrating keratoplaty reulted in clear graft, with no recurrent infection.
Concluion: Fungal keratopathy hould be included in the differential diagnoi of infectiou crytalline keratopathy. Numerou Candida pecie have been iolated in addition to the mot common cauative bacterial organim, treptococcu viridan. Candida guilliermondii i yet one more cauative agent of infectiou crytalline keratopathy. Candida guilliermondii, a rare human pathogen, wa reitant to medical therapy in thi cae.
