Endogenou Candida endophthalmiti after induced abortion

Purpoe: To report two young healthy women who developed endogenou Candida endophthalmiti after undergoing urgically induced abortion. Method: Cae report. Reult: In two eye of two patient, a diagnoi of Candida endophthalmiti wa etablihed by typical fundu appearance, poitive vaginal culture, and, in one cae, poitive vitreou culture. After vitrectomy and intravitreal amphotericin B injection, one eye of one patient had a bet-corrected viual acuity of 20/200, wherea one eye of one patient, who had ytemic corticoteroid treatment before the correct diagnoi, developed recurrent retinal detachment and a bet-corrected viual acuity of counting finger. Concluion: Induced abortion may caue endogenou Candida endophthalmiti in young healthy pregnant women. ytemic corticoteroid treatment may increae the rik of endophthalmiti.
