Abstract :
Purpoe: To clarify the indocyanine green angiographic feature of idiopathic ubmacular choroidal neovacularization.
Method: We performed fluorecein and indocyanine green angiography in 16 eye of 16 patient (nine men, even women; mean age ± D, 35.6 ± 6.9 year; range, 24 to 48 year) with idiopathic ubmacular choroidal neovacularization. During the mean follow-up of 11.4 ± 7.9 month (range, 1 to 28 month), angiography wa repeated (mean, 2.6 ± 0.5 time; range, 2 to 3 time) in 12 eye and performed only once in four eye.
Reult: In the early phae of indocyanine green angiography, a network of choroidal neovacularization wa oberved in 11 of the 16 eye with well-defined choroidal neovacularization een by fluorecein angiography. Choroidal hyperfluorecent area were noted in 10 of the 16 eye in the late-phae angiography. Three of the 10 eye howed focal dilatation of choroidal vein within the hyperfluorecent area. Choroidal neovacular membrane wa located within the hyperfluorecent area in eight of the 10 eye with choroidal hyperfluorecent area. A dark rim urrounding choroidal neovacularization wa oberved in 13 of the 16 eye at the initial examination. Indocyanine green angiography wa repeated in nine of the 13 eye and in the other three eye without dark rim initially. During the follow-up period, the dark rim became prominent in eight of the nine eye and developed in one eye without dark rim initially. Choroidal neovacular membrane regreed in thee nine eye. Choroidal neovacularization remained active or enlarged in three eye in which the dark rim wa tationary or inviible.
Concluion: The dark rim urrounding the choroidal neovacularization in indocyanine green angiogram appeared to reflect regreion of idiopathic choroidal neovacularization. Choroidal vacular abnormalitie uch a hyperfluorecent area or focal venou dilatation eem to be the background leion predipoing to the choroidal neovacularization.
