Abstract :
Purpoe: To determine the afety and efficacy of autogenou palmari longu tendon a a ling material in frontali upenion urgery for ptoi correction in children.
Method: In a propective tudy, the author evaluated 15 frontali ling upenion urgerie uing palmari longu tendon in 14 conecutive children with congenital ptoi. The method of harveting the palmari longu tendon i decribed in detail.
Reult: The mean age of the patient wa 4.7 year (range, 2 to 7 year). At a mean follow-up of 30 month (range, 20 to 40 month), all ptotic eyelid were uccefully corrected with good final lid poition. No recurrence of ptoi wa encountered. In one eye, knot lipof the ling wa related to upper eyelid trauma, which wa readily repaired. Otherwie, no expoure keratiti, wound infection, eyelid contour abnormality, or ptoi overcorrection occurred. There were no complication aociated with the palmari longu tendon donor ite.
Concluion: Frontali upenion with autogenou palmari longu tendon appear to be an effective treatment for congenital ptoi with poor levator function in children. It ue a an alternative material to facia lata for ling urgery in children can be conidered.
