Management of ubmacular hemorrhage aociated with retinal arterial macroaneurym Original Reearch Article

PURPOE: Experience i reported with intraoperative pharmacologic lyi of recent ubmacular hemorrhage with tiue plaminogen activator followed by urgical drainage of the unclotted blood in patient with retinal arterial macroaneurym. METHOD: Nine eye (nine patient) with a recent (≤7 day old) ubmacular hemorrhage involving the center of the fovea econdary to retinal arterial macroaneurym that were managed with recombinant tiue plaminogen activator–aited ubretinal hemorrhage evacuation, including ubretinal injection of tiue plaminogen activator and removal of the liquefied blood. Patient were followed for a mean 18 ± 7 month (range, 7 to 30 month). REULT: All nine eye had improved final corrected viual acuity after urgery, and eight eye (89%) attained a corrected viual acuity of 20/60 or better (mean, 20/40; range, 20/20 to 20/200). Final corrected viual acuity wa limited to 20/200 in one eye. Two eye developed a cataract that required urgery. CONCLUION: ubmacular urgery with tiue plaminogen activator-aited thrombolyi achieved improved bet-corrected viual acuity in eye with recent ubmacular hemorrhage involving the center of the fovea aociated with retinal arterial macroaneurym.
