Unilateral blindne after ipilateral prophylactic trancranial optic canal decompreion for fibrou dyplaia

PURPOE: To report a cae of unilateral blindne after ipilateral prophylactic trancranial optic canal decompreion for fibrou dyplaia. METHOD: Cae report. A 37-year-old woman with fibrou dyplaia underwent a prophylactic left optic canal decompreion. Preoperatively, the left eye had a viual acuity of 20/20. REULT: Four day after apparently uncomplicated left optic canal decompreion, the left eye lot all light perception. Blindne in the left eye perited depite urgical exploration and trancranial optic nerve heath fenetration. CONCLUION: Although prophylactic optic canal decompreion warrant conideration in elected patient with fibrou dyplaia, notable rik are aociated with thi urgery
