Abstract
PURPOE: To compare the efficacy of trancleral cyclophotocoagulation uing a neodymium: YAG (Nd:YAG) or emiconductor diode laer in controlling intraocular preure in patient with refractory glaucoma.
METHOD: In a propective tudy, 95 eye of 91 patient with refractory glaucoma randomly received Nd:YAG or diode cyclophotocoagulation. Patient were followed for a mean of 10.4 month (10.42 ± 3.16, mean ± D). We compared available data preoperatively and at 1 week, 1 month, 6 month, and 12 month potoperatively. Data analyzed were corrected viual acuity, intraocular preure, and the type of glaucoma.
REULT: There wa a tatitically ignificant decreae in intraocular preure after both Nd:YAG and diode cyclophotocoagulation at each time period. However, there were no ignificant difference in potoperative intraocular preure or viual acuity change between Nd:YAG and diode procedure.
CONCLUION: Compared with the Nd:YAG laer for trancleral cyclophotocoagulation, the diode laer ha technological advantage including portability, durability, and maller ize, while providing equivalent potoperative intraocular preure and viual acuity change.
