Abstract
PURPOE: To invetigate the efficacy of ciliary body endophotocoagulation during par plana vitrectomy in eye of pediatric patient with medically uncontrolled glaucoma.
METHOD: We compared preoperative and potoperative intraocular preure and viual acuity in five eye of five patient aged between 10 month and 14.5 year who had 180 degree of ciliary body endophotocoagulation with par plana vitrectomy.
REULT: Preoperative intraocular preure on medical therapy for glaucoma ranged from 30 to 55 mm Hg (median, 35 mm Hg). Potoperative follow-up ranged from 12 to 24 month, with a median of 16 month. Potoperative intraocular preure on medical therapy ranged from 12 to 35 mm Hg (median, 25 mm Hg) at 6 week, from 12 to 33 mm Hg (median, 29 mm Hg) at 6 month, and from 12 to 29 mm Hg (median, 27 mm Hg) at 12 month. Twelve month after urgery, mean intraocular preure reduction of 20 mm Hg wa tatitically ignificant (P = .020).
CONCLUION: Ciliary body endophotocoagulation during par plana vitrectomy may be an effective treatment for pediatric patient with imultaneou uncontrolled glaucoma and vitreoretinal diorder.
