Treatment of retinoblatoma with the trancleral diode laer

PURPOE: To report a cae of retinoblatoma uccefully treated by contact trancleral photocoagulation with a diode laer. METHOD: In an 18-month-old girl, a mall (6.6 × 4.3 × 3.2-mm) dicrete retinoblatoma anterior to the uperotemporal arcade in the right eye wa treated with trancleral photocoagulation uing a diode laer (810 nm) and a fiberoptic probe. REULT: The tumor regreed after photocoagulation, leaving a pigmented chorioretinal car. There wa no regrowth of the tumor 12 month after photocoagulation. CONCLUION: Contact trancleral photocoagulation with a diode laer may be a viable new treatment for mall retinoblatoma.
