Three-dimenional ultraonography of choroidal melanoma: extracleral extenion

PURPOE: To decribe the reult of three-dimenional ultraonography ued to evaluate extracleral extenion of a choroidal melanoma. METHOD: Cae report. The three-dimenional ultraound ytem ue a 10-MHz B-mode tranducer combined with a motorized rotating holder. The ytem acquire 180 equential image that are tored and proceed to create a three-dimenional block of the region of interet. REULT: Unique coronal and oblique perpective were obtained from interactive manipulation of the three-dimenional recontruction. Examination of the three-dimenional image allowed u to detect the trancleral uveal–orbital connection. Extracleral melanomatou extenion wa confirmed on hitopathologic examination. CONCLUION: Three-dimenional ultraonography i a promiing imaging technique for evaluating melanomatou extracleral extenion.
