  • Abstract
PURPOE: To demontrate the reperfuion of nonperfued capillary bed in diabetic retinopathy. METHOD: In a retropective tudy, we reviewed 292 fluorecein angiogram of 94 eye of 74 patient (mean age, 52 year; range, 20 to 68 year) with diabetic retinopathy. Fluorecein angiography wa performed repeatedly (mean, three time; range, two to eight time) during a mean follow-up period of 2 year (range, 3 month to 12 year). None of the 94 eye received laer photocoagulation. REULT: Reperfuion of occluded capillary bed wa oberved in 65 (69%) of 94 eye. Reperfuion wa characterized by recanalization in 22 (34%) of the 65 eye or by intraretinal neovacularization in 54 (83%) of the 65 eye. The former took place in mall nonperfued area and the latter in larger nonperfued area. Reperfuion occurred throughout the entire fundu in ix of 94 eye, reulting in reolution of diabetic retinopathy. Reperfued capillary bed with intraretinal neovacularization left vacular remodeling, which wa een a twited or kinked abnormal veel. CONCLUION: In diabetic retinopathy, occluded capillary bed may be reperfued. Twited abnormal veel may repreent the reperfuion proce through intraretinal neovacularization.
