Peripheral retinal nonperfuion aociated with eential thrombocytoi

PURPOE: To decribe a patient with retinal complication of eential thrombocytoi. METHOD: Cae report. A 24-year-old man with acute vitreou hemorrhage of the right eye underwent ocular and ytemic examination to elucidate the origin of thi condition. REULT: Fluorecein angiography of the right eye howed an avacular peripheral retina with marked capillary nonperfuion, arteriovenou anatomoi, and ea fan neovacularization. Blood tudie howed thrombocytoi without other aociated ytemic dieae. The peripheral retinal capillary nonperfuion and ea fan neovacularization were treated with dye-laer photocoagulation, and apirin, 80 mg daily, wa given for ytemic treatment. CONCLUION: In our patient, the avacular retina wa aociated with eential thrombocytoi, which may caue an avacular peripheral retina with neovacularization and vitreou hemorrhage in otherwie healthy peron.
