Poterior polymorphou dytrophy aociated with poterior amyloid degeneration of the cornea

PURPOE: To decribe a cae of poterior polymorphou dytrophy aociated with poterior amyloid degeneration of the cornea confirmed hitopathologically and immunohitochemically. METHOD: An 80-year-old woman with corneal opacitie required penetrating keratoplaty. The keratectomy pecimen wa evaluated by light microcopy and immunohitochemitry. REULT: Microcopic examination of the keratectomy pecimen howed cattered fuiform depoit located in the deep corneal troma. Congo red tain of the fuiform depoit confirmed the diagnoi of amyloidoi. Immunohitochemical tain for cytokeratin (AE1/AE3) howed that the endothelial cell were immunoreactive, confirming the diagnoi of poterior polymorphou dytrophy. CONCLUION: To our knowledge, the aociation between poterior polymorphou dytrophy and poterior amyloid degeneration ha not been reported previouly.
