ideroi bulbi reulting from an intralenticular foreign body

PURPOE: To report a cae of ideroi bulbi that reulted from a mall intralenticular foreign body. METHOD: Cae report. REULT: A 36-year-old man with normal viual acuity and a peripheral intralenticular iron foreign body in the left eye wa treated conervatively. Nine week after the injury, he had ocular ign of ideroi bulbi, with change in the electroretinogram. A clear len apiration with removal of the foreign body wa performed. After removal of the iron foreign body, no progreion or regreion of the ocular ign of ideroi bulbi ha occurred, and the electroretinogram ha not changed over a 2-year period. CONCLUION: Even in the preence of good viion, a patient with an intralenticular ferrou foreign body hould be followed cloely, and the foreign body hould be removed before irreverible ideroi bulbi occur.
