Abstract :
PURPOE: To report evere ocular and orbital toxicity after adminitration of intracarotid etopoide phophate and carboplatin. METHOD: Cae report. REULT: A 52-year-old man with glioblatoma multiforme underwent left intracarotid adminitration of etopoide phophate and carboplatin inferior to the ophthalmic artery. Within 7 hour, a nonpupillary block angle-cloure glaucoma developed econdary to uveal effuion in the ipilateral eye, which wa relieved by cycloplegia. Four day later, evere orbital inflammation reulted in a viual acuity of counting finger, proptoi, optic neuropathy, and total external ophthalmoplegia in the eye. The patient’ condition improved after a lateral cantholyi and adminitration of high-doe intravenou corticoteroid. Two week later, an anterior uveiti occurred in the left eye, which reponded to topical corticoteroid. During a 2-month period, the patient recovered to a viual acuity of 20/70, near normal motility, and normal intraocular preure, and the ocular and orbital inflammation reolved. Preexiting ipilateral chemotherapy-induced maculopathy became more pronounced. CONCLUION: Ocular and orbital toxicity after intracarotid etopoide phophate and carboplatin therapy i infrequently reported.
