Latanoprot and herpe implex keratiti

PURPOE: To report three cae in which herpe implex keratiti developed after initiation of latanoprot therapy. METHOD: Cae report. REULT: One patient with a hitory of herpe implex keratiti had recurrence of herpe implex keratiti with latanoprot treatment, reolution when latanoprot wa topped, and another recurrence when rechallenged with latanoprot. A econd patient with a hitory of herpe implex keratiti had bilateral recurrence with initiation of latanoprot; antiviral therapy could not eradicate herpe implex keratiti until the latanoprot wa dicontinued. The third patient with latanoprot-aociated herpe implex keratiti cleared with the dicontinuation of latanoprot and tart of antiviral therapy; reintitution of latanoprot with prophylactic antiviral medication kept the cornea clear, but a oon a the antiviral uppreion wa dicontinued, herpe implex keratiti reappeared. CONCLUION: Latanoprot, among it divere pharmacologic effect, may mediate inflammation in the eye. Protaglandin may be a final common pathway for timulating recurrence of herpe implex keratiti. Clinician hould be aware of thi poible aociation.
