Abstract :
PURPOE: To report clinical feature of amiodarone-induced optic neuropathy and outline the differentiation of amiodarone optic neuropathy from nonarteritic anterior ichemic optic neuropathy.
METHOD: We reviewed data from 73 patient reported to have developed an optic neuropathy while taking amiodarone.
REULT: Amiodarone optic neuropathy i characterized by an inidiou onet, low progreion, bilateral viual lo, and protracted dik welling that tend to tabilize within everal month of dicontinuing the medication. Nonarteritic ichemic optic neuropathy i characterized by acute, unilateral viual lo that i uually complete at onet, with reolution of dik edema over everal week.
CONCLUION: Unique clinical feature of amiodarone-induced optic neuropathy may help clinician diagnoe and ditinguih between amiodarone-induced optic neuropathy and nonarteritic anterior ichemic optic neuropathy.
