Hitologic and clinical evaluation of combined eyelid erbium:YAG and CO2 laer reurfacing

PURPOE: To report the hitopathologic and clinical effect of eyelid reurfacing that combine two different laer. METHOD: A cae erie of 23 patient who underwent eyelid reurfacing with two pae of the Erbium:YAG laer followed by one pa of the CO2 laer. With the tudent t tet, we compared kin re-epithelialization time and duration of erythema with thoe of a previou group of 25 patient who had undergone eyelid reurfacing with only the CO2 laer (two pae). A pathologit evaluated all kin biopy pecimen. REULT: Combining both laer hortened re-epithelialization time (7 v 12 day, P = .04) and the duration of erythema (2.5 v 7.0 week, P = .02). Hitopathologic examination dicloed le coagulative dermal damage with the combined laer protocol. CONCLUION: The different biophyical propertie of thee two laer can be combined in a periorbital reurfacing protocol to minimize both clinical and hitopathologic morbidity.
