Abstract :
PURPOE: To preent the microbial pectrum and uceptibilitie of iolate in pottraumatic endophthalmiti. METHOD: Iolate from 182 eye of 182 patient who underwent vitrectomy for pottraumatic endophthalmiti were examined. REULT: One hundred thirteen (62.1%) of 182 vitreou ample were culture-poitive, and 23 (20.4%) of 113 culture-poitive cae were polymicrobial, including three (2.7%) trimicrobial cae, yielding a total of 139 iolate. Iolate included 63 (45.3%) gram-poitive cocci, 24 (17.3%) gram-poitive bacilli, 25 (18.0%) gram-negative organim, even (5.0%) Actinomycete-related organim, and 20 (14.4%) fungi. uceptibilitie to amikacin, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, cefazolin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and vancomycin are reported. CONCLUION: Thi tudy repreent a large erie on microbial pectrum and uceptibilitie in pottraumatic endophthalmiti. We report a high prevalence of gram-poitive bacilli pecie and polymicrobial infection containing gram-negative pecie, undercoring the importance of broad-pectrum, combination antibiotic in the empiric treatment of pottraumatic endophthalmiti.
