Abstract :
PURPOE:
To decribe the indocyanine green angiographic pattern of retinal pigment epithelium tear in the etting of age-related macular degeneration compared with the fluorecein angiographic feature.
METHOD:
Twelve conecutive patient (12 eye) with a retinal pigment epithelium tear underwent imultaneou indocyanine green angiography and fluorecein angiography with the confocal canning laer ophthalmocope. The finding for the two mode were compared.
REULT:
Choroidal neovacular membrane wa evident beneath the rolled retinal pigment epithelium on indocyanine green angiogram in 11(92%) of 12 eye: a focal neovacular membrane wa apparent in five (42%) of 12 eye, wherea a plaque neovacular membrane wa een in ix (50%) of 12 eye. In comparion, fluorecein angiography demontrated late leakage a a reult of occult choroidal neovacular membrane in nine (82%) of 11 eye but no well-defined choroidal neovacular membrane.
CONCLUION:
Indocyanine green angiography i uperior to fluorecein angiography for imaging choroidal neovacularization in cae of retinal pigment epithelium tear and may erve a an important adjunct to indocyanine green–guided laer treatment in elected cae.
