Oral cimetidine (Tagamet) for recalcitrant, diffue conjunctival papillomatoi

PURPOE: To report the efficacy of cimetidine for treatment of conjunctival papillomatoi. METHOD: An 11-year-old boy had an 8-year hitory of diffue conjunctival papilloma, treated previouly with tandard meaure of exciional biopy and cryotherapy. He developed pontaneou conjunctival bleeding and diffue tumor recurrence over the entire conjunctival urface. Oral cimetidine liquid (30 mg/kg/day) wa precribed. REULT: Within 2 month, dramatic tumor regreion wa noted, with nearly complete reolution by 4 month. The patient had no local or ytemic ide effect from the medication. CONCLUION: Oral cimetidine poee immune modulation propertie and may be ueful in ome cae of viru-induced conjunctival papillomatoi.
