Abstract :
PURPOE:
To elucidate detail of the pathologic change in the ciliary epithelium aociated with atopic dermatiti and blunt ocular trauma.
METHOD:
We examined propectively 52 eye of 42 patient with detachment of the nonpigmented epithelium of the ciliary body aociated with atopic dermatiti and blunt ocular trauma. All the eye underwent ultraound biomicrocopic examination a an adjunct to binocular indirect ophthalmocopy with cleral depreion and lit-lamp biomicrocopy.
REULT:
Of the 52 eye examined, high-reolution ultraound biomicrocopy and conventional diagnotic method (that i, binocular indirect ophthalmocopy with cleral depreion and lit-lamp biomicrocopy) dicloed break at the anterior vitreou bae border in 40 eye, at the par plicata of the ciliary body in 27 eye, and at the white midline (that i, the line located in the mid par plana anterior to the anterior vitreou bae border) in four eye. In 40 eye the break at the anterior vitreou bae border could be detected with conventional method but in only 28 eye could they be diagnoed with ultraound biomicrocopy. Converely, in 27 eye the break of the par plicata could be oberved with ultraound biomicrocopy but in 25 eye they were detected with conventional method. In 21 eye with break only at the anterior vitreou bae border, the detachment of the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium wa limited poterior to the white midline. In all 27 eye with the nonpigmented ciliary epithelial detachment anterior to the white midline, the break of the par plicata were identified by ultraound biomicrocopy.
CONCLUION:
Becaue of the minimum deformation of the globe during examination, ultraound biomicrocopy contributed to the diagnoi of detailed tructural change in the ciliary body aociated with atopic dermatiti and blunt ocular trauma in relation to the white midline. In our ample of patient, the white midline may act a a barrier againt ciliary nonpigmented epithelial detachment, and detachment of the nonpigmented epithelium anterior to the white midline indicated the preence of the par plicata break in mot cae.
