Periocular abce and celluliti from Pateurella multocida in a healthy child

PURPOE: To examine an unuual caue of periorbital celluliti,Pateurella multocida. METHOD: Cae report, review of the literature. REULT : We treated a 13-year-old previouly healthy child who developed Pateurella preeptal celluliti econdary to a cat bite and cat cratch. After receiving a doe of intravenou antibiotic and tarting oral antibiotic, the child had delayed onet of everal abcee around the right eye, with marked pain and erythema. After inciion and drainage, he improved. CONCLUION: Pateurella multocida i a rare but potentially eriou caue of ocular infection. All cae of potential expoure hould be treated promptly and followed until complete reolution of infection.
