Macular fibroi aociated with talc retinopathy

PURPOE: To invetigate a patient with talc retinopathy who developed macular fibroi with reultant viual lo. METHOD: A 64-year-old intravenou drug abuer wa evaluated for bilateral peripheral retinal neovacularization. He admitted to abuing oral methylphenidate intravenouly. Funducopy howed numerou intravacular talc particle in the macular area of both eye. Over a period of next 4 year, viually ignificant macular fibroi gradually developed in both eye, the left eye more than the right eye. REULT: Fluorecein angiography confirmed the preence of bilateral peripheral retinal neovacularization with adjacent area of ichemic retina. The patient wa treated with peripheral laer treatment to the ichemic retina with reultant regreion of peripheral retinal neovacularization. Bilateral macular fibroi accounted for the reduced viion in our patient. CONCLUION: Talc retinopathy can be aociated with macular fibroi with reultant viual lo.
