Abstract
PURPOE:
To analyze the aociation of normal-preure glaucoma and migraine.
METHOD:
In a propective tudy, 154 patient with glaucoma (56 normal-preure ubgroup and 98 high-preure glaucoma ubgroup), 55 patient with ocular hypertenion, and 75 control ubject were analyzed by mean of a tandardized quetionnaire baed on International Headache ociety criteria.
REULT:
According to the quetionnaire, 46 patient (17%) were claified a uffering from migraine and 20 (7%) from tenion headache (epiodic and chronic). The prevalence of headache, migraine, and tenion headache did not vary ignificantly among control ubject, patient with ocular hypertenion, and patient with glaucoma, but migraine wa ignificantly more common in patient with normal-preure glaucoma (28%) compared with control ubject (12%; P< .05) and patient with high-preure glaucoma (10%; P< .01).
CONCLUION:
The reult ugget an aociation of normal-preure glaucoma and migraine and a potential, common vacular etiology of both dieae.
